What is ticketless parking?
Ticketless parking means vehicles drive onto a site without stopping and without a ticket, and leave it the same way. The stay is captured by licence plate recognition at entry and exit – the plate takes on the role the paper ticket would otherwise have.
The same method is also called barrier-free parking or, in trade language and internationally, free-flow parking. The three terms describe the same sequence from different angles: ticketless names the missing paper, barrier-free the missing mechanics, free-flow the uninterrupted traffic.
Payment happens during the stay or afterwards, at the machine, in the app or online. Anyone holding a permit pays nothing and still drives through without stopping.
