Common question
How does barrier-free parking with licence-plate recognition work?
Cameras at the entrances and exits read the licence plate as the vehicle drives through – with no stopping and no ticket to pull.
Entry and exit are documented with a timestamp. The parking duration is calculated automatically. At paid car parks, the relevant parking time is paid shortly before departure at the local pay station, via app or online by entering the licence plate. Online payment is also possible for up to 48h after the parking session ends.
At monitored car parks, and at managed spaces too, the system additionally verifies the licence plate to authorise parking.
In detail
It is permissible as long as processing stays limited to what is necessary, deletion periods are defined, and the terms of use are displayed visibly before the entrance. Those three points decide it.
